Doc Lounge Official Selection Autumn 2019!
Finally, it's that time of the year again where we reveal the Doc Lounge Official Selection. Hope you're excited because we sure are! The Doc Lounge Official Selection Autumn 2019 is a fantastic selection of award-winning, heart-touching and topical documentaries with stories from all over the world!
This autumn we look forward to let you follow three youngsters from Ghana who, out of desperation, turn to internet scamming with the help of black magic in Sakawa*, peak into Sherin Khankan's big dream to establish one of Europe's first mosques led by female imams, in the center of Copenhagen, in The Reformist*, and follow along on the fluid border between reality and fiction in TOUCH ME NOT on the emotional journeys of Laura, Tomas and Christian, offering a deeply empathic insight into their lives.
Bee's are essential for our environment, so when a nomadic family move in and break Honeyland*’s basic rule, the last female wild beekeeper in Europe, Hatidze, must save the bees and restore natural balance. Take part of the beautiful yet tragic love story, that started on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, between Leonard Cohen and his muse Marianne Ihlen, in Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love.
Fredrik Gerttens new film PUSH*** sheds light on the escalating global housing crisis, and our increasingly unliveable cities that has an effect on us all. This is not about gentrification, it’s a different kind of monster. Many of us know that the internet can open up for bizarre incidents, in Swatted we get to hear online players describe their struggles with "swatting", a life-threatening cyber-harassment phenomenon that looms over them whenever they play. We're also really happy to present a Georgian film this season; Before Father Gets Back is a film about friendship, dreams, longing and separation.
A beer-loving male choir in Norway once joked that they will sing at each other's funerals, and now it looks like the choir's conductor will be the first to be sung out. The doctor has given him just a few months to live. Which is roughly the time that the male choir has to prepare for its biggest gig to date: a warm-up job for Black Sabbath. 'The Men's Room' is a film that goes straight to the heart and stays there.
*This film is part of the Moving Docs project, a EDN innitiative and platform for documentary screening and promotion, which enables a selection of European documentaries to cross borders and reach new audiences all over Europe.
**PUSH will be distributed in Sweden by WG film and Doc Lounge and is one out of three films we work with within the Doc Lounge Impact Hub.
