Doc Lounge at The Conference: The Yes Men Special Access
Doc Lounge host a special screening of The Yes Men Fix the World at in Malmö on Wednesday 21 August, followed by a sneak peak of the new film The Yes Men Are Revolting. The work in progress session includes exclusive clips from the new film; skype discussion with Yes man, Mike Bonanno, live from the location of a major new prank and an introduction from the Danish co-producer Ole Tornbjerg.
The Conference aims to big societal questions to the table, asking how media and communication can contribute to building a better future. This Yes Men session hosted by Doc Lounge is tailored to fit with the conferences themes of "Make it Happen" and Power, Disruption and Lies.

THE YES MEN FIX THE WORLD
Andy Bichlbaum & Mike Bonanno (2009 / U.S. / 90 min)
The Yes Men, Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, combine political activism, performance art and a penchant for really good pranks to illuminate the bizarre truths in the international economic power game. Bichlbaum and Bonanno infiltrate multinational corporations and conference. Posing as representatives of powerful companies they present absurd and satirical statements luring the audience to believe that what they have heard is true.
In The Yes Men Fix The World the activists claim to be spokespeople for Dow Chemical and, to millions of BBC viewers, announce that after 20 years of refusal to take full responsibility for the industrial environmental disaster in Bhopal, Dow now fully accept the responsibility and will act accordingly. We also see them "defending" corporate interests after Hurricane Katrina and and publishing a fake edition of the New York Times announcing that the Iraq war is over. Brüno meets Michael More in this documentary that shows how a little imagination goes a long way in the fight against the world's greed.
